A quick reminder – we’re playing the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool on Monday 22nd May at 9pm and the Cavern Club opposite at 11pm (that’s tomorrow!). Both are free entry and there are loads of other bands on at both venues all evening! We won’t be wearing leathers but we will be playing 2 different sets, so it’s …
And the verdict is in…
Overwhelmingly positive reviews so far from the UK, USA and Europe: “Possibly my favourite record of the entire week; whatever you’re doing , if humanly possible, stop doing it, close your eyes and marvel at Skin by Captain Wilberforce” – Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music “Timeless, inventive and peerless songcraft” – Across the Universal “If there is any justice in …
Radio, Radio
We’ve had a fantastic response from online radio here, in Spain and in the USA. This is on top of the plays we’ve had on the brilliant 6 Music here in the UK. We’d like to say thanks to everyone at the following stations for their support: BBC 6 Music Snap, Crackle, POP! Oregon University Plastico Elastico Pure Pop Radio …
That Launch gig…
Thanks to everyone who came to the launch at the Brudenell yesterday, we loved playing in the main room (having been promoted from the games room, possibly for good behaviour!). Shatner kicked off the evening in style with a rambunctious 45 minutes of hook and riff heavy pop before we came on and did our thang. We couldn’t have done …

If you’ve been following our Facebook page, as I can only assume you have been, you may have noticed that we are now officially a real band as we have t-shirts for sale. The design was created with the help of OR8 Design and looks rather smart if you ask us. You can get your hands on one of these fine …
Gig updates / Spinal Tap?
With a week to go til the new album is officially released, it’s typical of us that we’ve run into a hiccup. Carl is currently hospitalised, possibly as a tribute to Spinal Tap, but more likely as he’s waiting for a major operation. This has obviously had an impact on our gig schedule – we’re going to postpone the Northampton …
Psst… Want a sneak preview of the album?
Seeing as it’s a month before the official launch of the album, here’s a treat for you – you can now stream the full album on Soundcloud here. We’d love to hear what you think, so add your comments to the tracks – and of course, tell as many people as possible using the magical powers of social media! Remember …

Good News Part 2
So, two bits of fantastic news. Firstly, Black Sky Thinking is going to be released on CD in the USA by The Kool Kat Music label. It’s the first Captain Wilberforce album to get an official release in the US – in fact until now all our albums and EPs have been self released through our Blue Tuxedo label, so …
Good news – part one
(Apart from the website being functional again, which it is!) The new album “Black Sky Thinking” is now mastered and the artwork is nearly ready. It will be officially released in March 2017, which isn’t the schedule we were hoping for, but hey, that’s the way it goes sometimes! We’re all really excited that the two re-mastered EPs hang together …
Website issue
As you can see there’s a bit of a technical hitch with the website at the moment – transferring web hosts etc. Should be all working in time for a big announcement next week. Exciting isn’t it?
Back at the Cavern
Hopefully if you’ve liked the Captain Wilberforce Facebook page (course you have!) you’ll have seen that we’re playing the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool tomorrow evening (Monday 23rd May). We’re actually playing 2 gigs tomorrow evening – the first at about 6:30pm and the second about 9pm across the road at the Cavern Pub. As the gigs are part …
Say hello…
…to Max, our new bass player. Or Massimiliano if we’re being precise – we had to import him all the way from Italy! So along with me, and completing our live line-up is the irrepressible Carl, who’s been with me since before recording “Everyone Loves a Villain” and Rob who’s on his second stint with me on guitar. You’ll get …
